Vacancy: Nautical and Marine Engineering Lecturers

It is the leading training Institution in East Africa on maritime and port operations courses.The College has a range of modern facilities which include classrooms, lecture halls, workshops, simulators, auditorium and IT laboratories, fire-fighting and survival centers.

Kenya was recently admitted into the “White List” of nations by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and therefore mandated to offer all STCW training courses for Seafarers. In order to carry out the above mandate, Kenya Ports Authority is inviting applications from qualified individuals wishing to be considered for teaching positions at Bandari College in the  following positions:-

POST OF NAUTICAL LECTURER GRADE HM2 (2 POSTS)

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidates will be required to teach nautical subjects from Cadet to Officer of the Watch (O.O.W) level. They will also be required to conduct practical training classes and be involved in all aspects of training and academic activities as well contribute towards course development, evaluation and curriculum design.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POST
  • Class 1 Master Mariner Unlimited and a Bachelors Degree in Nautical Studies
  • Previous sea-service as a Master or Officer in a sea-going vessel.
  • Candidates with Masters Degree in Maritime Education and Training will have an added advantage      
EXPERIENCE
  • At least 5 years teaching experience

POST OF MARINE ENGINEERING LECTURER GRADE HM2 (2 POSTS)

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidates will be required to teach Marine Engineering subjects from Cadet to Officer of the Watch level including Marine Power Plant and Electrical & Electronic Engineering. They will also be required to conduct practical training classes and be involved in all aspects of training and academic activities as well as contribute towards course development, evaluation and curriculum design.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POST
  • Class 1 Marine Engineering Officer or Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Technology, Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture.
  • Previous sea service as Chief Marine Engineer or O.O.W in a sea-going vessel.
  • Candidates with Masters Degree in Maritime Education and Training will have an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE
  • At least 5 years teaching experience in Nautical College.
