The position provides the opportunity to become a member of a growing and innovative commercial team based in Oslo. You will participate in the coordinating of the day to day operational activities of owned, time and voyage chartered ships ensuring compliance with the charter party by communicating with a variety of traders, charterers, brokers and post-fixture staff of our customers. You will report to the senior ship operator and work close to vice president commercial.

The Ship Operators are the focal point for the coordination and control of all cargo and voyage information.

Tasks and responsibilities
  • Issuing orders including loading and discharge instructions;
  • Ensuring that charterers, operators and traders are kept fully informed of latest ship schedules and programmes;
  • Issuing and releasing of Bills of Lading where applicable and ensuring timely receipt of Bill of Lading data to facilitate commencement of invoicing process;
  • Monitor collection of freight and surrender of Bills of Lading consistent with Charter Party terms;
Profile
  • University Degree in Marine Transportation or similar marine business discipline issued by an accredited university
  • Assist in daily chartering activities
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Affinity with working in an international environment;
  • Applicant should be a skilled communicator and team player;
  • Fluent verbal and written English.

MARINE ENGINEER – LNG ( 3 YEAR CONTRACT ) We are actively seeking a qualified Marine Engineer within the LNG industry in Queensland, Australia.

The right candidate will be responsible for technical and contractual supervision of a number of marine construction sites and contracts including construction of a LNG export jetty and material offloading facility.

Responsibilities will include :

• Monitoring and assure quality and schedule on the following marine construction activities;
o Materials offloading facility
o LNG loading berth and jetty
o Mainland aggregate loading facility
o Mainland vehicular Ro-Ro and fast ferry facility

Within these areas of responsibility the candidate will required to:
• Ensure Project safety standards are met or exceeded.
• Co-ordinate and provide engineering expertise to ensure that the plant is designed and will function in accordance with the Basis of Design and FEED as incorporated in the Contract agreement
• Monitor the EPC LS Contractor in the execution of his responsibilities under the EPC LS Contract.
• Ensure that interfaces with other parts of the Project, and marine stakeholders are adequately managed and properly engineered.
• Participate in site inspection assurance

The ideal candidate for this position will have to demonstrate :

• Relevant tertiary qualification with in excess of 15 years experience including senior roles on heavy marine construction projects.
• Qualified Chartered Engineer
• First hand experience in marine construction activity including;
• Marine piling, jetty and wharf construction
• Rock placing and revetment construction
• Dredging
• Experience in managing / supervising marine contractors.
• Experience of negotiating commercial, financial and contractual arrangements.
• Ability to think analytically and logically.
• Proven communication ability.
• Strong commitment to Safety, Quality and the Environment.
• A Proven track record working on multibillion dollar projects.
• Be psychically fit with a clean bill of health.

Candidate will be required to initially spend up to 6 months in Houston (USA) prior to commencement of project in Gladstone, QLD.

TECHNICAL ADVISOR – SUEZMAX FLEET OPERATIONS

Sonangol Marine Services (SMS) provides commercial and technical marine oversight services to subsidiaries of its parent company, Sonangol EP, the national energy company of Angola. SMS is recruiting to fill the position of “Technical Advisor – Suezmax Fleet Operations”. This position will oversee the technical management and safe operation of the corporation’s Suezmax fleet and new building program.
This position will report to the SMS Suezmax Fleet Manager in Houston, Texas. You will provide technical support in two primary areas, the oversight of the technical management of the company’s existing Suezmax tanker fleet (5 tankers) and its Suezmax tanker new building program (5 tankers). In conjunction with the fleet management staff you will ensure that the contracted third party technical ship management companies man, maintain, equip and operate Sonangol’s Suezmax tankers to Sonangol’s technical/safety standards and budget requirements, which you will be instrumental in updating and implementing. You will also be responsible for overseeing the execution of Sonangol’s Suezmax tanker new building construction program and ensuring that the third party new building construction manager and builder (DSME) meet their contractual requirements. In all phases of your activity you will be directly involved with and responsible for the career development and training of Angolan Marine Superintendents and mentoring junior Angolan marine technical staff.

You will be a Class One (Chief Engineer) certificate holder or have a B. S. in Marine Engineering. You will have significant tanker sailing experience as a marine engineer in a senior capacity as well as tanker management experience in a shore-side capacity. You will have direct experience managing tanker new building construction programs and negotiating ship operating/drydock budgets. You will be comfortable preparing detailed, timely and well-written reports in English and will be computer literate (Word, Excel, Power Point). The position in based in Houston, Texas but will require domestic and international travel. Fluency in English and a US passport or green card are pre-requisites.

Anti-Piracy Manager

The Anti-Piracy Manager is a new position within the responsibility of the Chief Operating Officer of Maersk Line. You will be working out of our Corporate Head Quarters at Esplanaden in the heart of Copenhagen.

The Department
The Vessel Management Department is a highly diversified international team of 115 people throughout various geographic locations. The team working out of Copenhagen (Centre Operations & Deployment) consists of 16 engaged team members, holding senior experience from a diversified background. The fleet we manage currently stands at 545 vessels which makes Maersk Line the largest container shipping line in the world. As such the job offers unique opportunities with daily contact to stakeholders across the Container Business organization worldwide, as well as contact with a large international network.

The Role
As Anti-Piracy Manager in the Centre Operations & Deployment Team, you will be overall responsible for managing the anti-piracy efforts for all container vessels in the group. This entails building and maintaining strong relationships with external senior anti-piracy stakeholders both in the industry but also with the military, political, legal sphere, vessel Captains and other relevant parties.

The impact of the job, both from an operational, tactical and strategically point of view, involves setting objectives and delivering results that have a significant impact on Maersk Line’s bottom line. But also contributing to the international society’s anti-piracy measures.

It is your responsibility that all relevant measures are pursued as necessary, and international relations are utilised to eliminate the risk of pirates.

Job tasks
*  Head Maersk Line’s anti-piracy efforts internally as well as externally
*  Proactively engage with the international community regarding anti-piracy efforts
*  Coordination of anti-piracy corporation with authorities, media, NGO’s etc
*  Prepare recommendations for future countermeasures
*  Participate in the piracy consensus forum
*  Represent Maersk Line in APMM’s anti-piracy committee
The reach is truly global
You will build strong international relations to senior external parties in various governments, organisations and authorities, representing the Worlds biggest container shipping company on piracy matters. This complex task presents very challenging opportunities to use your already good skills within; stakeholder management, political agility, strategic planning, media management, internal and external communication, constant care and foresight.
You will have good exposure to management within the company, as well as to senior represents of external relations globally. There is a very high degree of empowerment, openness and flexibility in the section, with focus on maintaining a healthy work/life balance in a modern atmosphere. Business critical travel activities are estimated at 0-30 days a Year.

About You
The ideal candidate could have a strong background from e.g. defence intelligence, or other intelligence functions, political science, government official or other similar experiences.
You know how to build long lasting relations with internal and external partners. You hold strong skills within communication and strategic analysis. Furthermore you have an outgoing and convincing personality and you are a result driven and self-motivated person. You are a self-starter who takes initiatives to change and improve. You are self-disciplined and accurate with details and you are capable of setting standards, minimize variation and exceptions, optimize results and execution of projects. You know the critical factors and process levers and are not afraid of hands on approach. It is important that you hold good English skills, both written and verbal as well as excellent stakeholder management skills.
The responsibility of managing anti-piracy measures for the entire A.P. Møller – Maersk container fleet also requires you to work well under pressure. You are aware, when issues must be delegated or elevated.
